2 Bedroom Ski Chalet in Moretonhampstead, Exeter

A 2 double bedroom, 2 bathroom lodge sitting on the banks of the River Teign. Situated in a truly idyllic wooded valley perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy the peace of this wonderful part of the Dartmoor National Park.
There are miles & miles of riverside woodland walks right on your doorstep a hikers and wildlife enthusiasts dream and the dogs love it too! Fingle Woods is in one direction and take river downstream for Dunsford Mature Reserve. The high moor can be accessed via the the lovely town of Mortenhampstead 5 miles.
The lodge provides spacious, extremely comfortable & light filled accommodation. With a private parking space outside the lodge, the triple aspect open plan kitchen / living/ dining leads to French doors and a large balcony with seating - a perfect place to unwind take in the views and watch the wildlife.
The lounge has 2 comfortable leather suites and a TV/DVD player along with an oak dining table and seating for 4. There is free WiFi in the lodge.
The kitchen is very well equipped with gas oven, dishwasher and microwave, along with a very useful utility with washer / dryer and good place to keep muddy boots and wet dogs. The lodge is double glazed throughout and with central heating and constant hot water.
There are 2 large bedrooms one double and one twin with plenty of storage. The master bedroom has a shower en-suite and there is an additional family bathroom accessed via the hall.
We include all linen, towels and tea towels.
We will leave you in total peace to enjoy your break but if you need us we live nearby.
Strictly NO smoking. Max 2 medium sized dogs which must be kept on leads on site and confirmed at time of booking.
No commercial vehicles, motorbikes, caravans, tents or towed boats may be brought onto the site.

Summary: Very comfortable and spacious chalet with good kitchen area which is well equipped for cooking all meals. Come well stocked with food as nearest supermarket is 5 miles away along very narrow lanes. Beautiful area right by bubbling River Seine. Lots of long walks along river or through pine woods.

Summary: The lodge is clean and well equipped and in a great location for exploring this beautiful part of the world. There are some lovely walks and easy access by car to many great places too. Thoroughly enjoyed our week in this most peaceful of locations. Thank you Hannah for the excellent info and tips on what to do/where to go. (Not a complaint at all as the lodge is not advertised as having a pool but It really would be amazing if the pool on the site was fixed up at some point - such a shame that it isn't working!)

Summary: My wife and I (plus our two dogs) have just had a lovely week in this out of the rat race lodge. The accommodation and the site are excellent with everything you could want at the lodge. The local scenery and wild life is all you would expect of this lovely location. My one word of caution is that the tiny Devon lanes are not for the faint hearted! Otherwise this is a wonderfull retreat.

Summary: This very rural lodge has all the amenities of home. The site has a very peaceful feel to it & you can hear the water of the Teign, when the veranda doors are open. The beds & sofas are extremely comfortable (full size as apposed to 'caravan' size) so if the weather is inclement, you can relax in comfort until the sun shines. The neighbours are friendly, but they don't encroach on your privacy, thanks to green space & strategically planted trees. The site is beautifully kept & is green both in colour & in nature (caring for the planet). We had a hiccup with the boiler (thanks to thunder storm), but it was sorted both efficiently & in a cheerful manner by the owner. The aftercare emails were also appreciated. The lodge is a short journey through single width, Devon lanes (with passing places, so be prepared to reverse) from Cheriton Bishop where you will find a shop & post office & I heartily recommend Woodleigh Coach Guest House cafe for breakfasts, lunches & their homemade cakes (best Bakewell tart I've ever eaten!) It has friendly staff & they welcome dogs with bonios & a fenced, green space. Moreton Hampstead is a quaint market town with supermarket & a superb butcher & deli - So if your off to the moor for the day, you can pick up the picnic enroute (the deli chocolate brownies are good too). Fingle Bridge is close by & here you can sit by the river enjoying lunch or a cuppa. There are loop walks for you & possibly your furry friend & the hairy one can take a dip in the water if they so wish. To conclude, I would recommend this lodge to people who love wildlife (We saw Bullfinches & Deer in the quiet lanes, Yellow Wagtails at Fingle Bridge & Ponies, Cattle, Highland Cattle & Sheep on the moor) & to those who understand that the pace of life is slower (my average speed was 8 mph in the lanes) & who realise they may meet a tractor around the next bend. All in all, thank you for fab memories of a girlie break with my Mum😁!
