3 Bedroom House in Monterey

3 bedrooms-
Bedroom 1 - downstairs, with queen size bed,
Bedroom 2 - upstairs full size bed
Bedroom 3 - upstairs - a bunk bed with 2 full size (not twin) bunks. Great for kids or can accommodate 2 adults.
2 full baths:
1 downstairs, updated with large walk-in shower
1 upstairs all new with tub/shower.
Updated eat-in kitchen.
Sun room with large table for games, dining or working.
Large washer and dryer.
Back porch and large back yard with fire pit. Spectacular view.
Smart Roku large screen TV – watch your own streaming platforms. (Bring your own streaming credentials (username/passwords) to use this.)
Blu Ray DVD Player and several dozen videos on site.
Nearby hiking, fishing, and hunting.
10 minute walk or one minute drive to shops, grocery, and restaurants.
Wintertime –
• This two story home has a forced air gas furnace that usually does a good job of heating the downstairs (except in extraordinarily frigid times). The furnace doesn't heat upstairs quite as well. To keep it comfortable, there are also wall-mounted heaters in all bedrooms and in the living room. There is also a good heater in the upstairs bathroom ceiling light/vent fixture.
Summertime –
• For the most part, the mountains and breezes keep Monterey comfortable in the summer. Still, on the warmest days, it can be a bit much. Fortunately, it almost always cools outside to a comfortable level in the evening. And usually if you open the windows and use the fans, it will be fine. The windows are all new, open and close easily and have good screens.
• Window air conditioners. The house does not have central air-conditioning. There are 2 window air conditioners, 1 each in the downstairs bedroom and in the larger upstairs bedroom. We prefer the windows open and a cool breeze drawn inside with the ceiling and room fans, but if the A/C appeals, have at it! The air-conditioners are removed in the winter.
The Road --
• The home is located on VA Route 220, a two lane highway. The speed limit is 25 right at the home, but it is higher very close by. Although it is not very busy, it does have some large trucks that use it, so occasionally you will hear road noise.
** Warning **
SNOW / SKIING – Driveway issue
In the winter months, folks have enjoyed using the Blue View as a base for skiing at Snowshoe WV. If this is your plan, please note:
If it actively snowing, your vehicles may temporarily be blocked in the driveway. The road that the house is on is generally one of the first to be cleared. However, the plows pile the snow on the side of the road at the top of the driveway, so it is blocked. We have a service to unblock the driveway when this occurs, but depending on the time the snow stops and the roads are plowed, this could prevent or delay your trip to ski (or go anywhere). A 4WD vehicle is recommended. There is also a snow shovel on the premises if you do not wish to wait for the service.
Children –
• I began coming to Highland County as child from the city, camping and hiking and exploring a whole new magical world. I know what a treat it is for kids, and what a joy to see it again through their eyes. You should know though, that there are not special accommodations for very young children here. There is no special furniture, child-proofing, or toys. BYO extras and good sense.

Summary: This is one of the best VRBO experiences we have had. The owners went above and beyond in providing amenities and explaining the features of the house. Would absolutely stay there again if we are in that area. Town of Monterey is very cute and Highland County is beautiful.

Summary: Our stay April 30 - May 12We were very fortunate to find such a beautiful home for our stay. My sister and I like to walk and everything needed was within walking distance. The Host was very accommodating and seen to it that a full length mirror was available for our trip as we were here for my daughters wedding. Summary: My family, including my 18 month old grandson, stayed here for the weekend to enjoy the Maple Festival. This house was perfect for us. Walking distance to restaurants and many of the Festival activities. Very well-equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Excellent communication with the owner. Loved it!

Summary: My husband and I came to Monterey for a friend’s wedding and we booked the Blue View. This home is beautiful and sits on a gorgeous spot with an incredible view!! Everything you could need is here. It’s cozy and definitely felt like “home” for the weekend! The owner, Johnny, was absolutely wonderful and made the check-in and check-out process seamless! He was so helpful in offering suggestions for places to eat and things to see. If you are ever in Highland County and need a place to stay I 100% recommend the Blue View. Summary: Have stayed in many vacation rentals over the years and The Blue View is a 5+ star rating. Not only clean and comfortable The Blue View offers a well organized space with fully stocked coffee station / game / visitor information / videos / music / towels etc. Just bring your food. And Johnny is a GREAT host!

Summary: We visited Monterey for the Maple Festival. The location of Blue View allowed us to take a short walk into town (most of it on a sidewalk) and avoid parking and traffic issues on the busiest day (Saturday). There were several contact numbers in case we needed assistance. We didn’t. Everything worked well. Internet service was very good. The house was clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of parking space. The host was accessible before arrival to give us the address and access code. A book was provide that gave clear and concise directions for operating everything. I highly recommend Blue View.
