Negative: Too expensive for the shoe box size bedroom I was given. Melbourne or Sydney prices! The place is so run down. Definitely not value for money!!

Positive: We booked this hotel last minute as we were due to stay on a campsite with storm Dave approaching. The hotel was clearly in the process of opening for the season but the staff were very friendly and allowed us access to the room early which was very much appreciated as our daughter had not faired well on a rough crossing. We were given one of the rooms facing the front which was bigger than I had expected and had a great view across the harbour. The restaurant was not open at the time of our stay so I cannot comment on this.

Negative: The room was cold and we couldn't get the heater to work, same goes for the TV but watching the comings and goings in the harbour provided enough entertainment.

Negative: Extremely hot water and a mixing system inadequate. Toilet seat minus the holder on one side making it unsafe for sitting. The entire building is experiencing serious deferred maintenance. Once was a proud part of Stromness is looking less so. However, your staff was excellent as was the food.

Positive: Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and spacious room and excellent breakfast and dinner.

Negative: Shower over the bath which had a very narrow and curved base making it feel very unsafe. Shower height was fixed and too high. Needs a grab rail for safety although replacing the bath with a walk-in, level access shower would be a better solution. My friend and I felt too unsafe to have another shower.
