Positive: My family had a great stay at Tsukinoya. The room was spacious and we loved sleeping on the tatami mats. We really enjoyed unwinding with the tea and kettle they provide, and of course in the (private) onsen! The guesthouse is located right by the bus stop for easy transportation around Hakone. The husband and wife that run it are so kind -- they made us a last-minute dinner reservation and drove us there, and drove us to Gora for the start of the loop.

Positive: Do not expect the Ritz or Four Seasons. This onsen is over 115 years old. It is authentic and warm, not elegant or fancy. But it is charming and comfortable. But far and away the greatest things about this place are the coupled who own it. They are incredibly sweet and will go out of their way to may your stay wonderful. There are two different rooms with hot springs. The one on the first floor is fantastic. We went to eat a small restaurant we walked by that was 90 seconds away and the woman insisted in walking us there. There is a lovely shrine around the corner. You will be in a small hilltop neighborhood and the 7-11 store and village are a 7 minute walk downhill and 10 minute walk up.

Positive: The couple that run the place are extremely helpful and well organized. Thanks to them we had easy-to-use transportation. The onsen was really hot and relaxing,free for 50 mins ,private.

Positive: We went for a traditional Japanese experience, and this place did not disappoint. We loved the onsen so much. I can't believe how refreshing it was. The owners were so incredibly nice. Highly recommended.
