River Bend Ranch is a private ranch in Durango, Colorado located just five miles (10 minutes) from historic downtown Durango. Our three bedroom, two bath single level cabin is set among the willows and pines on our private trout pond and also features a covered deck with a wood stove.
We are located on the Million Dollar Highway in the Animas Valley on the way to Purgatory Ski Area (20 minutes) and Silverton (50 minutes). Come to River Bend Ranch and enjoy the beauty of the Animas Valley and one of the most unique properties in Durango. The cabin is equipped with Roku TV and and reasonably fast WIFI.
Bed Configuration (Single level home so all bedrooms are on the same floor):
Master - King Bed
2nd Bedroom - Queen
3rd Bedroom - Bunk Beds (single over single)
Queen sleeper sofa in main living space
Things to know about your stay.
We are a working horse and cattle ranch, but our operations will not interfere with your stay. We also have a world class wedding and event venue on a five-acre lake close to the cabin. You have access to the outdoor areas on the property except when an event is in progress, which of course will not interfere with your use of the cabin, covered deck, and fenced yard. And, you'll always have access to the Animas River.
Our private trout pond is about 20 yards from your back deck. It is not fenced and you must keep close watch on children or those that cannot swim. Please do not reserve the property if you have safety concerns as it relates to the the access to the pond or the Animas River. The pond is filled by irrigation, which is shut off before Thanksgiving every year. This drains the pond through the winter months. The irrigation is turned back on in late April and takes a couple of days to refill. After it is refilled, it is restocked with fish.
The Durango- Silverton Train goes by the property daily (mid-morning, mid-afternoon and early evening).
This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Summary: It’s hard to explain just how wonderful, beautiful and peaceful the whole property is. We wanted to stay where we would see wild game and beautiful scenery of Colorado. God provided it all! The owners are a wonderful family! We are ready to stay there again soon, We live in West Texas and it was so great to find out the owners had family in our area.

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin was nice and the location is beautiful. I loved being able to fish in my back yard. A few things that would have made the stay better. Air Conditioning! It got up to 90 degrees and it was hard to enjoy the cabin when it's hot.Water filter because he water smelled like blood and turned orange. Basics like salt and pepper and paper towels should be provided. I left some for the next people.Property is right by a busy freeway and Train that blows horn throughout the day. I wasn't bothered too much by it because I live by trains but you should be aware if you are expecting a quiet place.Overall I am satisfied with the stay but probably wouldn't go back without there being some changes.

Summary: The place was absolutely beautiful. My nieces wedding was at this venue so it worked out perfectly for us. It was our 1st wedding anniversary so we decided to make a weekend of it. The only thing that was a minor issue was that the sprinklers came on while we were trying to load up our truck lol. We will definitely stay here again!

The cabin was clean and had all the necessities. It was nice to find a place that was one level and had grounds you could easily walk around outside. We were traveling with my parents who both use canes and they loved walking down to the pond and sitting under the willow tree. Thank you for such a great stay!

This rental was great. Close to town but far enough away to see the stars,, the property was in overall excellent shape. The owners are very nice and accommodating. However we were told we would be the only people on the property, this was not the case. There was a very friendly maintenance crew there every day from sun up to sun down. This made it hard to really relax and enjoy our one on one time. As they were up on the cover deck and moving piles of wood around the house. We brought our two dogs and found it difficult to go outside and really enjoy ourselves.

Summary: The property is in a great location, conveniently close to downtown! We really enjoyed the outdoor barbecue area and the surroundings. We saw deer hanging out near the pond almost every night. Seeing the train go by every day was really cool and inspired us to take a ride on it ourselves! The only complaint I have is the pots and pans were really scratched up and worn out. Other than that the cabin was very clean and cozy - especially the recliners!
