This charming Costa Rican style home is located in a rural and safe neighborhood only 15 minutes from downtown Atenas. The house sits on a large property surrounded by absolutely gorgeous gardens with fencing all around. Casa Dulce offers you the combination of being able to experience the normal daily life in a local neighborhood but also having all the privacy and amenities to make your stay as good and relaxing as you deserve.
The house has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Each bedroom has a queen size bed and lots of closet space. There is comfortable seating in the living room and a good size smart TV. The spacious kitchen is well equipped. In the separate laundry room you will find a washer and dryer. We have good internet all on the property.
A large veranda with outdoor furniture wraps around the house. There is adequate private and secure parking space on the property.
The garden is the absolute highlight of the property. The paved walkways take you through an abundance of tropical plants and flowers, past the fountain to the rancho and pool area. There are lots of fruit trees (mango, guanabana, banana) and all kinds of beautiful butterflies and birds visit the garden daily. Just take a stroll, have a seat on one of the benches and look around and enjoy the beauty of it.
The rancho has an outdoor kitchen and grill area and a relaxing jacuzzi. The pool with full deck overlooking the beautiful valley view is just a step away. All to make your stay as pura vida as it can be.
And to top it off there is a third sundeck between the palms and cacti, ideal to enjoy a beautiful sunset.
Our experienced property management team is ready to make your stay the best it can be. Piet and Yvonne, a multilingual (English. Spanish, Dutch and German) couple from the Netherlands will contact you after booking. During your stay they are always just a phone call away.
As an additional service to our house guests, they offer fee- based airport transfers to help you avoid the potential hassles you can experience in getting from and to the property on your travel days
They also provide car rentals and a variety of quality tours. They can arrange for you to have your fridge stocked with your favorite groceries upon arrival, or have a home cooked meal ready for you on your arrival day. For special occasions they can have a local chef come to the house to prepare a gourmet dinner. What to think of a relaxing massage at the property, it can all be arranged. After booking they will reach out to you to provide all the information you need.
In the house you will find a guest manual that gives you all the information that you need on the property, the town of Atenas (restaurants, shops, medical assistance) and the extra services offered to out guests.
Casa Dulce is the place to be if you want to enjoy the Costa Rican way of living but with all the extra´s that make your vacation complete

The standard rate is based on 2 people. For every extra guest there is a $15 per person per night fee. Guests staying longer than 14 days have a bi-weekly cleaning included.

Summary: I came here to rest and relax after a huge accomplishment. The beautiful landscape and the cozy house was spectacular. Who needs tv when I could sit by the pool for hours just watching the hillside and all the nature around. Piet and Yvonne were so helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend booking a tour through them and also ordering meals to be delivered. The food was local cuisine and every meal was incredibly delicious. It felt like such a treat to rest all day and have amazing meals brought to me. Thanks so much for everything.

Summary: We stayed seven nights in the house. We loved the location and the view. My husband and I stayed outside under the ranchero most of the day and enjoyed It even more at night in the hot tub with the rain storms in the evenings. Town is only minutes away from great restaurants and stores. The hosts were wonderful and so helpful with their knowledge of the area. We would be more than happy to return for another stay

Summary: Felt like we were living in a million dollar botanic garden. Pool was lovely, spa was really nice, the outdoor shower was awesome. The house was a spacious size for 2. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook. Plus the rancho (covered area by the pool) had a very nice gas grill, sink, and table with benches. Not much in walking distance, but within a 15 minute drive to lots of good restaurants, a really good grocery store, farmers market, and more. And the property manager can provide pick up from the airport, a good rental car delivered in Atenas, and meals (breakfast, dinner) delivered for a fee. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Summary: This little house was adorable, clean, convenient, well stocked, and had a wonderful outdoor area. The beds were comfortable, the washer/dryer was handy, and the pool and hot tub were so relaxing. The property offers a lot of privacy as it is surrounded by solid fencing on 2 sides, a fenced extremely steep hill on the back side, and bushes/flowers on the front with an electric gate. Piet and Yvonne were super helpful and quick to respond. The landscaping was absolutely beautiful with gorgeous flowers, huge cacti, and a few types of fruit trees. We loved being able to relax in the hot tub after returning from a busy day of exploring. Keep in mind that there is a lot of street noise (loud vehicles/motorcycles), roosters, and dogs barking regularly. As with many homes in Costa Rica, there is no AC so this means you keep the windows open quite a bit which makes the noise harder to block out. Again, it was not a problem for us since we are heavy sleepers, but a light sleeper may struggle. All of the different bird noises were so fun to listen to in the mornings. In late June, the evenings were cool enough to use a light blanket so the absence of AC was not an issue either. The home is located in Atenas so it is not really near the popular tourist attractions. It was about a 3 hour drive to La Fortunas/Arenal Volcano and about a 2 hour drive to the Jaco Beach area. Driving in Costa Rica is quite the experience. It would typically take about 30 minutes to get 10 miles due to the hair pin turns, mountains, and one lane bridges, but the spectacular countryside made it all worth it! I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing and beautiful get-away for those that plan to spend a good deal of time at the house.
