The Space:
This is the biggest house in all of the Melrose Cottage neighborhood. Boasting ample space to accommodate up to 20 guests, our stunning property is perfect for those seeking a serene oasis with uninterrupted ocean views. Each bedroom is elegantly designed and furnished with plush bedding, ensuring a comfortable and rejuvenating night's sleep.
-Located 2 homes over from the resort the amenity center and massive oceanfront. Melrose pool and club facility. Also at the pool house is pickleball, a golf simulator, a restaurant/bar, fitness center just two properties down from this property

-6 bedrooms - 6 bathrooms. 4 of the bedrooms are in the main house, and each of these bedrooms has two king beds & private baths. Two detached mother-in-law suites with their own private baths.

You will want to spend time exploring the rest of this unique and special island. Accessible only by ferry, Daufuskie's isolation from the hustle and bustle of the mainland provides a one-of-its-kind experience for those looking to truly get away from it all!
Guest Access:
Daufuskie Island is located on the southernmost point of South Carolina & is only accessible by boat. That being said, it is one most beautiful places in all of the United States & is well worth the adventure.
You will travel to and from the Island via a Ferry & picked up from the Dock by a shuttle, which we will coordinate. Keyless entry code & travel logistics will be shared once booked.
The pool is owned by the POA for Melrose and there are separate charges for the pool access. It has just been redone & extremely nice. See photo in listing for breakdown of payment options for pool passes.
The Neighborhood:
152 Avenue of the Oaks is located in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood of Melrose on Daufuskie Island, SC. The area is known for its pristine beaches, picturesque oak trees, and charming Southern hospitality. You'll find plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, including fishing, boating, kayaking, and biking. There are also local shops and restaurants nearby. Whether you're looking to relax on the beach, explore the island's rich history, or enjoy some local cuisine, you'll find everything you need just a short distance from our oceanfront property.
Getting Around:
Golf carts are the main form of transportation on Daufuskie Island.
Other Things to Note:
Please let us know if you would like to rent golf carts (recommended). The golf cart(s) will be waiting at the house for you upon your arrival.
The pool is currently closed & will be open in May/June 2023
**Pet Friendly:
Well-behaved canine family members are welcome but must be adult dogs, housetrained, must stay off of furniture, not be incessant barkers, and must be friendly towards humans and other dogs. Upon departure, the vacation home should look as though no pet had been in it, including the removal of pet hair. There is a pet fee of $ 250 for one dog, and $450 for two dogs.

Summary: Our family has rented a number of vacation houses over the years. This house was one of the best for bedroom space. The 2 detached pods were great for those who needed a little more privacy or separation from the large group. The beds were extremely comfortable--which is not always the case in rental houses.We loved the quiet, laid back atmosphere of Daufuskie! Our 5 children-ages 6-14--had a great time playing on the beach. Even though it was December, they played in the water everyday. The owners were very quick to respond to any of our questions and to any issues that arose. They helped to arrange transportation to and from the island and helped with golf cart rental. We would definitely consider renting again.

Summary: I led a group of 13 men from church on a men’s trip to Daufuskie Island. The island is very fun to explore and I highly recommend renting golf carts, especially from Vacation Daufuskie SC and ask for Christy. The house is in a perfect beach front location with its open floor plan to soak in the ocean views. The house came well stock and the owners were quick to respond to any needs. The house is beautiful inside and out. It is a great location and I highly recommend it!

Summary: Obviously the property views and scenery are amazing. The sun rise/ down experience is beautiful in daufuskie. The home was big enough for our family group of 14 and we had a great time celebrating my husbands 50th birthday! The downside is the home is not very well keeped up. Things were broken, floors where dirty, some lights worked others didnt, we didnt have a proper trashcan inside because the lid was broken. Not enough towels or simple things like papertowels, toilet paper trash bags or dish soap was provided for a large group for 4 nights.

Summary: This large home accommodated our group of 7 adults, a five year old, a three year old and two dogs very comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and six spacious beds/six baths provided us with tons of space…never felt crowded. The location of this home is wonderful … the beach/ocean is a 30 second walk right out the back door and a community pool with reasonable fees is two doors down the street … very walkable. If an uncrowded beach is what you dream about, this is your place! The hosts are the best I have worked with on VRBO … in addition to providing everything we needed re: the house, they also assisted us in making ferry and ground transportation reservations and provided a reference for golf cart rental. That full service contributed greatly to a memorable and enjoyable week on Daufuskie Island.

Summary: The choice of this property for our large group (17 of us) was an absolute hit. Not only was the property in a perfect location, but the layout of the home was flawless. The description was as stated in the listing and we had an amazing week. We hated to see it end. Often listings can be a little off, but not this property, we all loved everything about it and if at all possible, it is definitely on our list of places to return to.

Summary: The house was beautiful and roomy. Plenty of space for the 17 of us with just a short walk to the beach right out the back door. The neighborhood was quiet and everyone we met while on the island was welcoming, courteous, and friendly. Its a great place to visit and this house was an awesome place to call home for a few days.
