Welcome to la Bendicion!
Our spacious 3,500 square foot home provides plenty of room for groups, multi-family or large single-family vacations.
Your visit to la Bendicion begins with your entrance through our stately main gate which provides security and privacy for your visit and continues up the paved driveway to our large parking area. The road association which maintains the road for the last part of the drive to the house now requires that 4X4 vehicles be used on the road.
Most rooms of the house feature cathedral wood ceilings for a true Costa Rican feel. Our air-conditioned great room contains a dining area as well as family room for relaxing indoors.
The largest gable in southern Costa Rica covers a spacious patio with an unobstructed view of the family-sized (10 X 5 meter) pool, landscaped grounds, and of course, the Pacific Ocean. Our large pool is a favorite amenity for most families.
During your stay, you will enjoy the relaxing melody of nearby rivers, one of which has a waterfall within walking distance. The house sits on almost two acres of landscaped yard featuring coconut palms and other fruit trees including lime, mango, and star fruit. You will also enjoy the beauty of bougainvillea, ginger, and orchid trees.
The private upstairs master suite includes a balcony with lovely ocean views as well as a jacuzzi room, walk-in closet, and separate large bathroom. In addition, a security door at the bottom of the stairs ensures peace of mind for any valuables in the master suite during your stay.
The three bedrooms on the lower level have doors opening directly to the pool area. (Families with small children should note this carefully as this is the only access to these rooms.) One bedroom has a private ensuite and the other two share a bathroom. All rooms contain either a walk-in closet or a wardrobe. While all bedrooms are air-conditioned, with large windows positioned to take advantage of both mountain and ocean breezes, it is rarely needed.
A well-equipped kitchen with stainless-steel appliances and granite counter tops will allow you to cook wonderful meals during your stay – cookbooks provided!! There is a gas grill available for use. If you don’t want to cook, Ojochal is considered the gourmet capital of southern Costa Rica with several well-known restaurants. The house is equipped with wireless high-speed Internet, large-screen 4K HD television, movie library, small book library and many board games. For your convenience, the house has a separate laundry room with washer and dryer.
For families with small children, we have two booster seat/high chairs and also two pack-n-plays.
When you are in the mood to explore the surrounding area, try one of the many local tours including horseback riding, snorkeling/scuba diving, zip lining, fishing, ATV tours and canyoning to name a few. Nearby Uvita with its “Whale’s Tail” formation is famous for the migrations of Humpback and Bryde’s whales eight months of the year. A sea turtle conservation site is nearby and, if you're there at the right time, it's sometimes possible to see the release of new-born sea turtles into the ocean.
Charming Dominical is a popular destination for surfing with a shopping area along the beach. Also, near Ojochal are several beaches including Pinuela and Ventanas.
The property is located in the mountains with easy access from the main coastal highway, called the Costanera, "where the mountains meet the sea". The distance from the highway, via the main public road through the village of Ojochal, is 5 km or a 10 minute drive.
Nightly rates listed are for up to eight guests. A $10.00 per night fee will be charged for each additional guest.

Summary: Ojochal is a great town. The views at the house are fantastic and seeing the large variety of birds from the sitting area by the pool was fantastic. The property manager Dawn was very helpful and accommodation.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas at La Bendicion with our family and friends. The property and house were outstanding and exceeded our expectations, with Macaws and lots of birds flying around. We were all blow away by the views as soon as we stepped on the property. The property manager was incredible, she was very responsive to our questions or any issues we may have encountered which were very few. They really went out of their way to make sure our stay was amazing, they even decorated the house for Christmas including 2 Christmas trees. The house is close to all amenities and there are many different types of adventure excursions within driving distance away. We plan to come back here again as soon as we can!

Summary: Really can’t say anything bad about this place, it was super clean and very well stocked, the kitchen had everything you could think of including spices and basic staples. The place had a big supply of board/card games, books, local maps, pool toys and towels. All you need to bring is your own personal things! Check in (and out) was super quick and easy, Dawn the property manager was very nice and helpful with any question about the property or local area. The local area is quiet at the house, but yet close to lots of attractions and stores should you need something. The list of tours and recommendations given by the host was helpful, we did several of them and they were awesome. The house and yard are very well maintained. It really is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation. We have already recommended it to several of our friends.

Summary: The home was perfect for our family. The home was very clean and the grounds were beautiful. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything needed. The teens and adults loved the pool. Great location with quick access to many beaches and waterfalls.

Summary: This house was a wonderful place for our group of 5 with ages ranging from 18 to 73 yrs celebrating the 18 yr old’s HS Graduation. The beautiful home was located in a large garden setting with a view of the Pacific Ocean. When we were at the house our time was spent out by pool on the large covered patio. I, being the senior & not going on the activity tours, spent 3 days relaxing by the pool, swimming, reading books & so enjoying the peace & quiet. In the evenings after dinner the group would go night swimming & watching thunderstorms off in the distance from the patio. The property manager, Dawn, was outstanding providing us with internet sites for scheduling activities tours before our arrival & food sources (restaurants & grocery stores) near house. The drive to the house from main road was always an adventure & you must have a 4WD vehicle. Dawn met us at the house on our arrival & did a walk thru explaining the everyday life at the house - meaning what to do when electricity goes out. This did happen quite a bit but a minor issue. It was never out more than 5-10 mins. The house has about everything you can ask for in way of supplies & kitchen set up. This is the first vacation trip over the years where we’ve not had to buy bottled water. The water is outstanding here in Costa Rica. The food at restaurants was marvelous. We wish we could have stayed a few days longer. Thank you Charles & Carol for making your home available to us.

Summary: Waking up to the exotic sound of monkeys and spotting hummingbirds the very first morning we couldn't ask for a better beginning of our Costa Rica adventure! The House was perfect for our family of 3 generations and the local host, Dawn, was very helpful and kind before, during and after our stay. I highly recommend La Bendicion.

Summary: The house is awesome. The master bedroom upstairs has a wonderful balcony with a sea view and a view of the lovely garden. Each room downstairs has it's own piece of the patio and the pool is perfect. The location is gorgeous. Definitely check out the Ojochal waterfall! The road up is an experience, especially at night. Once you are used to it it works fine, but for the first night make sure you bring dinner with you! It's dark.

Summary: we came down to the area to celebrate my grand-daughter's first birthday who lives in the area with my son and his partner. The house was perfect. It was a lovely property with beautiful views. The house was very comfortable and everyone agreed that their beds were super comfortable. Everything was really clean. The house is off a mountain road so you do need an SUV but most properties will require an SUV. Property managers Dawn and Charles were very responsive to any questions we had before and during our stay. I highly recommend this property. Karen G.
