Built on over 2.5 acres, the large private estate is situated in a quiet pristine setting. It consists of the owners house, an infinity-pool with Indonesian style gazebo to relax under while overlooking the jungle, and the orange house, for rental. The buildings are surrounded by a huge tropical garden with lots of native trees, giant bamboo and local fruit trees set close to the rainforest and the Morete River. White face monkeys, Tucans, Scarlett Macaws and many other animals are frequent visitors.

Uvita, with its infrastructure that includes banks, supermarkets and restaurants, as well as the beaches and Marino Ballena National Park are only a short distance away by car. To Dominical it is a 9 miles / 10 min drive by car. One of the most popular national parks of Costa Rica, the Manuel Antonio National Park near Quepos is just 37 miles / 1 hour by car away. The property is located with easy access to the main road.

The orange house is built a short distance from the owners house. It was designed to provide privacy for those who want to simplify and eliminate both the physical and psychological clutter in their life and reconnect and protect nature, our source.
The open inside is divided by built in furniture in bedroom, closet, kitchenette and daybed areas. Big sliding doors lead to the porch, which is overlooking the tropical garden and providing an easy interplay between indoors and outdoors. A lush outdoor garden bathroom invites the guests to experience a shower under the stars and emphasizes the open living character of the house.
A sophisticated ventilation system of wood shutters and roof ventilation use the natural air flow to dispense with need for air-conditioning.

The pool area is located beside the owners house and consists of a 3 x 11 m large infinity pool with shower from a bamboo pole and an Indonesian style gazebo to relax under. The pool will be exclusively for you to use during your stay.

1) How far is it to the international airport in San José?
We recommend to rent a car. It is a 124 miles/ 3-4 hours drive from the international airport in San José to Uvita. We also recommend to do the drive during daytime. The best route is starting from the airport taking highway 27 direction Caldera and then highway 34 via Jaco, Quepos, Dominical to Uvita.
2) How close is the Orange House from the beach?
The nearest beach is Playa Hermosa, 1,5 miles away from the Orange House. The famous whales tail beach is approx. 3 miles away. All together we are close to 7 different beaches here in the Uvita area. You will need a car to go there.

Summary: We loved the orange house. The grounds are amazing. We woke up everyday to the sound of tropical birds and we only had to sit back on the porch to see all kinds of hummingbirds, tanagers, toucans and more. We also saw an agouti crossing the yard! The house itself is beautifully done and was a good base for us to visit nearby beaches, waterfalls and take a snorkeling trip to Caño island.

Summary: The orange villa is modern, comfortable and well equipped. Perfect for a couple. The terrasse is very nice and intimate in a beautiful garden with bamboo and fruit trees. The outdoor bathroom is great. Hermosa beach is at 5 minutes by car and Ballena national park and beaches at 15 minutes. No need for a 4x 4 to get to the villa. Udo is a perfect host, proactive and discrete. Very good communication before and during our stay. We strongly recommend. Thanks again Udo

Summary: This is a cozy , well appointed casita perfect for a couple. The decor was exceptional with artwork creating a unique environment. It has everything you need for at home cooking , and the infinity pool is great. The outside bathroom and shower was an unexpected pleasurable experience . We would come back and stay for another adventure to this part of. Costa Rica

Summary: The Orange House was a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the nearby beaches and national parks. Udo did a great job of welcoming us and taking care of all of our needs. Loved all the small touches like fresh pineapple and homemade granola! The pool was fabulous and was a welcome place to cool off and read a book after a day out! The property itself was quiet and wonderfully surrounded by glorious flowers and bamboo! All in all, a very nice retreat! We did not want to leave!

Summary: Udo's orange house is a perfect little suite on his property. The whole property is gorgeous and very well thought out design. The highlight of the house may very well be the bathroom though. Pictures cannot show how good it looks. My wife commented that it should be in magazines. Udo was attentive to our requests but also gave us our space so it really feels like you have the property to yourself. We saw plenty of toucans, heard howler monkeys and had a troupe of white faced monkeys go by about 50 feet from the patio. We were only there a few days but they were quite lovely. If we were back in the area again we wouldn't hesitate to stay again if it were just the two of us.

Summary: The house is a lovely, airy, open place surrounded by a beautiful estate. The open air bathroom is amazing. The pool is gorgeous and perfect for a dip after a hot day. The owner, Udo, was very accomodating and helpful. The whole area is very calm, quiet and perfect for a getaway. We will be back soon.
