Shangri-La is a beautiful Bahamian home, located on Old Banks Road, steps from the Atlantic Ocean. The house is surrounded by coconut palms and a meadow that stretches to the Atlantic Ocean. Walk two minutes from the wrap around deck and a magnificent ocean view unfolds.
Upon arriving to Eleuthera, our property managers will meet you at the Banana Beach Estates gate. You will be greeted with complimentary Bahamian drinks and appetizers. Our staff is utterly lovely and they make every effort to make sure you are well taken care of.
Once you enter Shangri-La you will be welcomed by the airiness of the twenty-eight foot ceiling and coastal decor. The open concept living, dining, and newly remodeled kitchen will allow you to enjoy your vacation with all your family. Enjoy the smart tv with access to your Netflix account or use our new Fire Stick with numerous international and local channels as well as free Pay Per View movies. Connect to the web by way of free internet.
The two, large bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. The master suite has a king size four poster bed, while the second suite has two queen sleigh beds. The master suite has a beautifully renovated ensuite washroom with a large walk-in glass shower. Eleutheran conch shells are embedded in the shower floor. Custom woodworking, by a local craftsman, completes the coastal theme. For those who need extra sleeping space, the open loft has a queen and twin bed. A third washroom, with a washing machine, can be found on the main floor. An additional shower is located outside to rinse off beach sand.
Shangri-La is equipped with ceiling fans and air conditioning throughout. Both bedrooms have a/c units, and the loft has a new a/c which cools the loft and below. Beautiful linens, bath and beach towels have been chosen with attention to quality. The coastal furniture, linens, and Bahamian artwork make for an authentic island getaway.
The kitchen is equipped with cookware, cutlery, coastal dishes, spices, and tropical glassware. The dining room table accommodates six people and additional seating for two at the breakfast peninsula.
The wrap around deck is a perfect spot for listening to the ocean's waves, grilling dinner, and enjoying al fresco meals on the outdoor dining table. Children can enjoy playing on the grass, exploring the neighborhood, or taking walks along this safe cottage road. Relax on the two-person hammock and read a book or have a nap while the palm trees sway in the breeze. Enjoy the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of Shangri-La away from any crowds.
A short walk along the path will take you to a deserted, white sand beach that extends for miles. Bring along Shangri-La's beach chairs and cooler. Spend your day in the turquoise water enjoying swimming, snorkeling, watching the dolphins, or beachcombing. You're likely to be the only people there. A short drive away is French Leave Beach, Twin Coves, Naval Beach, and the calm waters of Cocodimama.
A ten-minute walk takes you to Sky Beach Club and Pascal's Restaurant, FREE access to the infinity pool, hot tub, and swim-up bar. Ask Sammy to make you one of his famous Bahamian drinks. Plus, Shangri-La is only a few minutes' drive from the lovely town of Governor's Harbour, with its century homes, selection of restaurants, and stores.
For larger groups we offer additional rooms in our guest cottage. Orchid Cottage has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an open concept living and dining area. Each property offers nice privacy, with large palm trees and foliage between the two. This allows a larger group extended space and privacy to celebrate a special occasion.
Enjoy a catered meal and Bahamian cocktails at Shangri-La. The caterers will shop for local seafood and produce, prepare the meal, and provide clean up. A Bahamian experience that will be enjoyed.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We just got back from a weeks stay at Shangri-La and had the best time! This house was extremely convenient for all our travels. Being within 5/10 minutes of Governors harbor, grocery stores, eateries and the airport made our travel so easy! The gated community made us feel safe and the location of the house on the quiet beach road makes it the perfect spot for solitude. It would also be a great house for children to play. You can’t see the ocean from the house but it’s just a short walk up a small hill. And the beach is beautiful! You can hear the sound of the ocean from the house which was relaxing. The beds were very comfortable with great quality sheets. The kitchen had everything we needed. The owner and caretaker were quick to answer any questions. Looking forward to another stay!

It has a laidback, island feel to it. It is very spacious both inside and outside. We were able to discover much of the island and different beaches - all beautiful. It is a peaceful island - most of the beaches we had to ourselves or only saw a couple of other people. We really appreciated being close to Governor's Harbour for groceries and trying out the different restaurants.The owner went out of her way to give us advice and answer questions - we greatly appreciated it!We would definitely recommend it !

We had an issue with the washing machine and when I contacted the owner, she sent someone out the next day. Unfortunately the machine was not fixed but we had plenty of towels to use the rest of the week. The beach was just a short walk across the street and was stunning. I would stay here again!

The myriad ceiling fans were usually enough--we only turned the AC on to sleep. The house has a coffee maker and plenty of dishes. The knives in the kitchen do need to be sharpened. There are a million towels and pillows and linens to choose from. Driving thru 2 gates to get to the house made us feel safe. The cottage on site is clearly separated from the main house--plenty of privacy. We tried many other beaches but in the end the beach around the corner from this house was ideal: clean, empty, long and pink. The water was calm and clean and warm--so easy to bob around with a noodle and just talk. We saw turtles, rays and small sharks. The house had many beach chairs, noodles and an umbrella. The beach was ideal and lovely. We appreciated the outdoor shower after the beach. The insects are no joke so spray the second you step outside and reapply. We reported a few minor issues which were resolved quickly. I would stay here again--you won't find a nicer beach on Eleuthera.

Reviewer Comments: Shangri-la was a lovely, comfortable home centrally located on Eleuthera. Our neighbors were delightful and introduced us to the house and property. Lachadra, the property manager, was very helpful and welcoming. (We also rented a car from her company, Cadet Rentals, and were pleased.) Something to be aware of when you visit Eleuthera is that the power grid can be sketchy. We experienced several power outages during our time on the island--we had forgotten about this. We felt fortunate that the layout of the house was open and there were screen doors we could open for ventilation. We kept the bedroom doors closed so the cool air would not escape and this worked out well. I will admit to being a smidge jealous of another neighbor's generator. lol. The house was comfortable and exactly what we needed--highly recommended!

The house is in excellent condition and is consistently upgraded. Every time I come there is something new. This time the deck was newly painted and as well as the kitchen and a new mural on the wall. Every thing you could need to make your vacation better is supplied. From rafts,new beach chairs, umbrellas, sunscreen and 2 coolers.The bedrooms are huge and both have their own bathrooms. The loft can sleep 3 and is perfect for kids. The deck has a couch 2 loungers and a table that seats 6. This is a perfect home in a perfect location. The best part of this rental is the team that takes care of the property.Chad the house manager greets us every year on check in day. She remembers each returning guest and caters exclusively to your needs.Rosalee make sure the house is spotless. She even came by midweek and asked us if our sheets needed changing. Her husband is there every morning raking the yard and watering plants.I don't know how they consistently make it better year after year.This house feels like home to me. It's full of love and that comes from the team that cares for it.Thank you for another perfect visit.

It could easily accommodate more. We found the place incredibly tidy and clean and extremely well maintained. The kitchen was very well-equipped with everything you need for meals cooked in. It was complete with an outdoor gas barbecue. All systems functioned to an exceptional level including the gas oven, air conditioning units and we so appreciated the consistent water pressure and constant ceiling fans to help with air circulation. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay, just minutes from a beautiful beach. We would definitely entertain a subsequent visit.
