Nestled just outside the vibrant heart of Kansas City, you'll find the peaceful oasis of Houston Lake. This neighborhood offers a harmonious blend of serene suburban living and easy access to the city's many attractions.

Once inside, you'll find the living room, kitchen and a full bath on the 1st floor.
The bedrooms, second bathroom and laundry are located on the second floor.
The first floor ceiling is lower than it is in other homes. If you are 6'2 or taller it may be a bit uncomfortable.
There are quite a few stairs up to the front door of the home. Please see pictures for reference.
There is not a dock for boats.
No Smoking in unit or building. (violation subject to $250 fine)
Pets are welcome for a nominal pet fee -$40 per pet. $100 per pet per month for long term stays.
Pets must be crated while unsupervised, house trained, and are not allowed on the furniture or in the beds.
No parties or gatherings.

Summary: The home was not ready for us at 3pm as promised. We arrived at 4pm and they were still cleaning. Trash can outside was already overflowing and there was still a lot in the house....it was stacked everywhere! The lady cleaning was clearly overwhelmed and asked for more time. So we left and came back about 5pm and she still wasn't done. We parked at end of street and waited for her to leave. Got in about 5:30pm. We loved the location, lake was very pretty and we went on walks around the lake. Bathrooms were clean. There weren't any washcloths, but I found some in the dryer upstairs along with load of sheets....I folded those up and placed on the little couch. Then there was a load in the washing machine that I put in dryer for you too. When we went to bed the first night, our pillowcases were still damp/wet. That was kind of unpleasant. Found out that the fireplace was strictly "ambiance" no heat....in fact we had to block it off with the footstools and pillows because the heat was escaping from that area. Very cold downstairs and then very hot upstairs. We also found out that the dishwasher leaks. We liked the retro frig and stove, kitchen area. We made breakfast twice while there and used the BBQ grill down the street once. I looked for a stopper for kitchen sink so that I could wash some dishes by hand, but couldn't find one. All in all, we did have a good time, but some notice on delay of getting in would have been nice. I called twice too and no one answered or called me.

Summary: We really wanted to give this place a low rating to keep others from booking it, but we can't. It's a ten. Maybe an eleven. The house is charming, nicely updated with a 1950s lake cabin feel. The host provided a generous supply of coffee--a much appreciated touch. Our only warning is about the steep stairs, both inside an outside. Not an issue for us but this is not a place for guests with mobility issues. We'll be back--unless you beat us to it.

Summary: Overall, we had a good stay. It's an old house and has a lot of lovely character. The one challenge we ran into was locking the front door as the instructions were missing a key step. We called the management team for assistance and left a voice message. Since we were hungry, we left to grab a bite and had to leave the front door unlocked. Obviously, this was a bit disconcerting, but the neighborhood seemed safe and nothing was stolen while we were out. The management team returned our call within a couple of hours and we got the missing step for locking the door. Thank you!

Summary: Really awesome house and location for the family! We were visiting our son who is stationed in missouri and wanted a quiet place to relax close to KC and this was perfect! Clean and really a unique house! The main bed and guest bed were great and had an attached bathroom. The third room has a very very tiny bed smaller than a twin but it was perfect for my 5yr old. Wil def book here again! Great hosts and location

Summary: Cute, clean cottage on Houston Lake close to airport, conference center and downtown KC. Temperature control was a bit wonky, but all in all we enjoyed the cottage.

Summary: My husband and I and three friends (a couple and a single) spent the weekend in Parkville for a wedding. The host was in contact before our arrival about things to do in the area and details of check-in. Before check-in, the manager contacted us about an AC issue that turned into 4 window units keeping us cool. And it was a hot weekend! Shae and co. were in constant contact and very professional. Although the AC unit was a lost cause, Shae made our stay a very cool one. The house is quaint and very cute. The ceilings are very low, but that only affected my husband who is 6'5" - he just had to duck occasionally. Overall, the house was accommodating and in a great location. We would definitely rent this again!
