Positive: We highly recommend Cheeky Monkeys as comfy and quiet place to stay in Bukit Lawang. The family run site of Sarah and Agus makes you feel like a family member. Everyone is every helpful, friendly and will give you a smile. The accomodation is clean, bed was large and very comfortable, the room and the towels had a very nice scent. staff helped us with an express wash of our trekking clothes. We had 2 times dinner and breakfast. it was excellent. fresh and well cooked veggie with exotic spices. they offer kitchen classes: at out next visit we will defintly join! Sarah organised a tailormade trekking for us. my husband and me, a professionell guide by the national park team and his assistent. they adjusted the trek to our needs: we are not the fittest ones and the area is steep and sometimes muddy. with the help of our guides we always felt safe and finally saw 3 Orangs on a 4hrs trek. It was great experiences! Overall 5/5 stars! Thank you Cheeky Monkeys!

Positive: Very good place to stay if you want to do a tour to the jungle to see the Orang-Utans. People all very friendly and helpful and they organized everything for us for the trip. Also you can eat there (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and the food was very good! I can totally recommend that place.

Positive: Staff was very nice. Delicious sate ayam by chef Ella Nice trekking and rafting with guides Rian and Santa.
Negative: The first night there was a problem with our room (bathroom leakage) so they put us up in a much less attractive hotel somewhere down the road. Other guests we talked to told us a similar story. We moved back to Cheeky Monkeys for our second night, so lots of unwanted packing and unpacking, especially when traveling with a child. This was a very unpleasant surprise upon arrival after a long journey.

Positive: I loved this place. It was set in a beautiful garden outside Bukit Lawang. The restaurant area was lovely to sit in, the food was top notch. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Nice terrace as well. The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly, and helpful. Sarah was extremely responsive before we arrived and arranged the trek and transport from the airport. She also arranged a wonderful lady to come and give us a massage the day after the trek, which was lovely. The trek was AMAZING! and the guides were perfect. We did the 2 day, overnight trek and saw orangutans, gibbons, 4 types of monkeys, baboons, a bearcat, a million butterflies... So beautiful. The over night stay in the forest was basic but great food and company with the guides and the cook. The going was quite tough up and down hills and a good level of fitness is needed if you do more than 1 day. The first day is easy though. The river rafting was a brilliant way to end the trip and rides you back into the village. Have a spare dry set of clothes for after this as you will get wet. Mosquitos weren't too bad either. Its about a 20 minute walk from the village which is a really interesting place to walk round, filled with rickety bridges across the river and little eateries and shops. Best food is at Cheeky Monkeys though.

Positive: Very nice place, amazing helpful staff. Nice room, nice bed, nice breakfast and food in the restaurant on location(slightly more expensive than nearby “local” places, but worth it since it’s very convenient)
Negative: Not the property’s fault, but there were power crashes on the main lines of the city. So everything went off, AC, WiFi, lights and so on every half our or so so the room never got quite cold enough. The staff did everything they could to mitigate it and I could even borrow the data from one of the employees phones to do some important online work, thanks!

Positive: Everything. Everyone involved in the accommodation and its services were so friendly and helpful. They always had a smile on their faces and engaged in talk so you feel very comfortable being there. Recently they opened their restaurant which serves amazing food so I had no need to eat elsewhere, plus canter for certain dietary requirements. Plus a beautiful garden to enjoy and 3 lovely dogs too.

Positive: The facilities were beautiful. Staff was extremely helpful in answering any questions we had. Food was delicious and healthy. Everyone was very friendly and took time to chat with guests. We also did a 3 day 2 night trek with them that we enjoyed very much. Saw lots of monkeys and orangutans.
