Positive: We stayed at The Retreat for a week with our two sons who are 10 and 6. We enjoyed using the pool and were very lucky with the weather! The Retreat is very spacious and clean and the main bed was very comfortable. I usually do not find beds very comfortable when staying at places but this one was lovely. There were lots of games, puzzles and children's toys in the cupboard which we could use. It was nice to have a few little treats and useful items left for us before our shopping arrived too. The location is lovely and we enjoyed watching the animals from the garden. It was a good base to explore the surrounding area.
Negative: It would have been nice to have zed beds for the children, rather than a thin mattress on the floor as our elder son didn't find it very comfortable and I had to pad it out with cushions. Also a blackout blind in the main bedroom would have helped but overall the accommodation was great.
Summary: A week at The Retreat

Positive: An absolute gem of a place to stay. Beautifully equipped throughout with lovely touches of fudge, ice cream and milk waiting for us when we arrived. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Lovely evenings drinking wine outside and chatting to the sheep!
Negative: Nothing. We had a fabulous time.

Negative: It would appear that the water supply to the house is less than perfect. This resulted in a very low pressure shower and other water related services. This is the only issue surrounding and excellent well price accommodation.
Summary: Overall excellent, please improve the shower.

Positive: Beautiful property, a wonderful break for us living centrally and wanting a peaceful trip. Hosts were warm and welcoming, we felt truly at home as soon as we arrived. They provide a helpful guest guidebook for the area, places to visit and things to do. The property itself feels homely while modern, clean and beautifully presented. The shower pressure and temperature was great, and the bedroom ceiling fan came in very handy for the warmer evenings. The area feels very secure and safe, with gated entry and owners/hosts nearby. Would love to visit again, and would recommend staying for more than 2 nights.
Negative: Nothing at all, the only thing I’d advise is prepare to drive as aside from a very local pub, most things are a long and tricky walk to get to. We went on a long bank holiday weekend, so the buses weren’t available for most of our trip.
Summary: Perfect place for a wonderful and peaceful trip, with warm and welcoming hosts.

Positive: House is beautiful and in a great location , really peaceful and very comfortable.
Negative: The shower is tempremental/faulty which hosts were aware of but hadn't rectified before our stay. The shower went from boiling to freezing and lacked power. Check out 10am prompt - felt rushed for a Sunday morning.
Summary: Lovely but disappointing

Positive: Excellent location. Close to beautiful National Trust properties and nature. Calm and quiet place. Co-op about a mile and half away. We were able to buy organic farm eggs from the house for breakfast.
Negative: Shower works best at eco mode with mixing of hot and cold water but this decreases the flow.

Positive: Absolutely stunning home. Spacious yet cosy. Very clean - truly, not a speck of dust or a stray hair anywhere. The bed was so comfortable. Everything you could want or need was provided. Great location. Very friendly and responsive hosts. Staying as a single mum to a baby I felt safe and comfortable
Negative: Upon arrival, the property was freezing (we stayed in December), it would have been nice for the radiators to have been put on for our arrival. The radiator in the main bedroom clicks and tinks constantly. Took a while to get used to whilst trying to sleep. The kettle had a lot of limescale/hard water in, which wasn’t great. The write up about the property suggested there was a coffee machine… I couldn’t find it if there was one. None of these would ever stop me from recommending or staying here again though.
Summary: Beautifully modern whilst retaining a country feel. Highly recommend
