Positive: Yoshimatsu was an absolutely beautiful place to stay for a few days in the Hakone region. The ryokan has beautiful gardens, spacious rooms with separate bedroom. The staff are exceptional. This is a traditional ryokan so slippers to be used inside. Onsens are great with indoor and outdoor pools. The property was so quiet and peaceful. Perfect for decompressing after visiting busy cities. We would stay there again.
Negative: We purchased the half board option and were provided breakfast and dinner. Be aware the food is traditional Japanese food, many courses, served in our room - but you need to enjoy traditional food.
Summary: This ryokan will provide the perfect Japanese experience in the most beautiful, peaceful surrounding

Positive: Our stay at Yoshimatsu was truly phenomenal and one of the most memorable parts of our first trip to Japan. As our first ryokan experience, it completely exceeded expectations in every way. Our room was incredibly spacious, with comfortable western-style beds and a private onsen on the patio that felt magical. Between the peaceful setting, bamboo surroundings, and thoughtful details throughout the property (and Mt. Fuji views!), it somehow felt both like a world away and completely welcoming at the same time. The kaiseki meals were delicious and such a special experience beautifully presented, seasonal, and unlike anything we’ve had before. Most of all, the service was extraordinary. Sabina was an absolute dream, and every member of the staff made us feel genuinely cared for. They gave us helpful sightseeing recommendations, answered all of our questions kindly, and created an experience that felt deeply personal and unforgettable. If you are considering a ryokan stay in Hakone, especially for a first experience, I cannot recommend Yoshimatsu highly enough.
Summary: Magical stay in a stunning setting.

Positive: I can see Mt Fuji did time in Japan, see the last minute sakura trees, the customer service was great and the onsen was great. My family liked the food. They book the taxi for you in advance.
Negative: How to get there, only 2 ways taxi or bus. Sometimes it sounds like someone is walking in the garden even though we were told not to, if they did they would have been able to come to our private onsen and as females it makes us feel unsafe.
