Positive: We spent a week at Kantenah in Jan 2025. Overall the hotel is very nice, the facilities are good, rooms are clean, good range of restaurants, great pools for kids and a really nice white sand beach right in front of the hotel.
Negative: My only real complaint about the hotel is the location of the rooms, many of the are at the back of the hotel (away from the beach) and very close to the highway, so we could hear traffic noise a lot of the time. It’s worth checking the locations of the room when booking We also went to the white sands side of the resort on one day to check it out, but a lot of it seemed to be under construction, so although we could use the restaurants and pools over there, we decided not to as it wasn’t as nice. Restaurants book up very quick, so speak to the concierge about booking as soon as you arrive.

Positive: I have been to the Riviera Maya 6 times and stayed at different hotels, twice at El Dorado Royale, once at at Valentin Imperial, once at an all inclusive in Cancun Hotel area but can’t remember the name. I usually go as a couple and we spend a bit more, this time I brought my mum and gran and so I payed the bill but I still wanted a similar or same experience, I was hesitant to book this hotel as it had more mixed reviews but overall was cheaper then the others and after thorough reading I decided to give this a go. I have to say there is not a lot to worry about! and totally worth it, definitely good value. if you are someone that is used to extremely good service you may be a bit annoyed that the golf cart to take you to your room takes 10mins rather than immediate or that the app to book the a la Carte restaurants isn’t great, if you are a bit like that and complain about the smallest of things go somewhere else that costs a bit more. Overall I believe it was really good value, there are three hotels in one, two large areas with pools, and one that has a kid area. It’s a bit of an eco hotel, so there’s a lot of iguanas, tropical birds, Coatis, Sereques and we even spotted some racoons late at night, if you or your kids love animals and nature this is the most ‘at nature’ I felt in all the resorts. In this hotel there are a lot more Buffets than others which is also great for eating what you want when you want and running back to the pool or beach. The drinks are better at other resorts but beer was good and spirit+mixer, cocktails were a bit hit and miss but who cares. A lot of the restaurants were fully booked when we arrived for the weekend, such as the Japanese, but we just booked something else and we were impressed, the food at El Dorado Royale is amazing, here it is really good, but if you don’t mind paying more then the other one is better for food.
Negative: The only complain would be the cleanliness of the room every day, the pillows did smell a bit like they hadn’t been dried well (humid) I had to ask for new ones but they did give them to us quick.
Summary: Great Value all inclusive for nature lovers!
