Summary: Location was great right next to town in walking distance, clean hotel but dated, good comfy bed, fresh towels provided every day, large spacious rooms with tv and tea and coffee in room, staff helpful, breakfast was great, huge selection, didn’t use the bar but looked well stocked. Weather was extremely hot and the one fan given to each room wasn’t unite adequate, no air conditioning at all throughout the hotel. There is NO car park, apparently the hotel hasn’t had one in 3 years despite being advertised but the rugby club opposite offer parking for a fee, depending on how long you want to stay.

Summary: Our twin room was clean and had everything we needed, apart from plug sockets! The only sockets available in the room were for the TV and the VERY essential, but fairly ineffectual fan. A little dated decor wise, possibly due an upgrade? But everthing else worked as it should. A lovely little selection of toiletries in the bathroom and good sized fluffy towels. The staff were great, I can't fault them for helpfulness and genuine friendliness. However (and it's a big one for the disabled community, especially those using anything bigger than a self propelled wheelchair) accessibility is a little sketchy. Admittedly the building is old, historic to Cardiff, and when originally fitted out would have had state of the art accessibility features. A bit like car parking spaces today, they are no longer big enough for the cars most of us drive. The same with The Angel Hotel. Their accessibility is not fit for purpose. In order to access reception I had to wheel round to the side of the hotel to a recessed side door. The bell didn't work, so travelling partner had to go back round the street, up the stairs to reception to ask for me to use the lift. Lovely receptionist walked back down and round to me to put the pin number in to let me in. We then realised I'd have to take my electric wheel chair attachment off for me to fit into the platform lift, as it was only big enough for a wheelchair. The same with the main lifts in the hotel. Summary: The Angel is drab and rundown. I’ve known it was a major feature of Cardiff but it is now very second rate. It is poorly decorated and gloomy and rather unwelcoming. The receptionist was unhelpful and verged on disrespectful when the electronic key would not open my room door involving three(!) trips to Reception and back. I never expect obsequiousness but politeness and helpfulness and an apology goes a long way! The room was clean and serviceable. It was OK for one night but I would not have been happy for a longer stay.

Summary: Lots of dust on window sill radiator. No air-con. There was a large fan but not the same. Toilet seat was a very yellow colour needs a refurb. Could do with usb ports in their switches most places have them now. Ssying that the reception staff were very pleasant and accommodating

Summary: Great location for Cardiff Castle , shops, restaurants & bars. Staff were really friendly & helpful . Room was very shabby , paint peeling & grubby walls , shades too big for bedside lights in general very dilapidated, in need of redecoration & TLC. Wardrobe smelt of damp . Breakfast was good , included full english, continental, cereal, toast, fruit etc . Due to heat wave our room & the dining room were unbearably hot, fans were in place but not sufficient to make it comfortable. Iced water was available but air con would have made our stay so much more enjoyable !

Summary: The building is absolutely stunning but is in desperate need of refurbishment, The room was clean, Staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful Breakfast was very good all freshly cooked and good choice of buffet There is no air con in the hotel so extremely hot, the lift is very small and slow but only to be expected in a building that age. The Car Park is closed but there are 2 NCP car parks within walking distance Overall it was a lovely place just a bit dated
