Positive: Convenient, quiet. Great ice-cream place just across the road
Negative: I was called about when I’d be arriving and given it was after the main office closed, I was told where the keys would be. My friend, whose name was also on the reservation, looked where I told her the keys would be and when she didn’t find them, she went to the office. The person there said she didn’t remember making such a call and was pretty rattled by the situation despite my friend showing her she was on the reservation. It was all very odd as a start, but the stay, itself, was lovely.

Positive: What a lovely feeling opening the door to a well appointed, immaculately clean, comfortable room. There was complimentary water, a refrigerator, and plenty of outlets to plug in devices. You can park right outside your room, and walk to the office where you'll find a complementary selection of breakfast items including coffee, juice, muffins and coffee. We loved staying here and will be back again.
Negative: Nothing. It was all great.

Positive: We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Rye Place! Check in was smooth and easy and it seems like contact free is an option for later arrivals or people looking for distance. The room was immaculately clean and had everything we could need. Most places we stay at lately aren't guaranteed to have a mini-fridge but the room we booked does and it's always nice to have! The location is right on Lafayette which is a pretty busy road so you get a decent amount of traffic noise but that's the trade off for a super convenient location and we were in a room directly facing the road. However, rooms were much quieter than we expected due to the age of the building and/or renovations. Beds are super comfy and there are pretty spacious grounds which is awesome because we are traveling with a dog. Very close to all of the places we like to visit when we are in the area. We would book again!
Negative: The complimentary coffee and baked goods was not ready either morning of our stay at 7AM. We're early risers and the first morning we walked up at seven and the front desk woman was just arriving (she said she needed a few minutes but we decided to head down the road to the Juice Box) and the next morning we were walking the dog and watched her roll in even later at like 7:15AM. Luckily there is a coffee maker in the rooms but it would have been nice to grab a cup and a snack before leaving for the day!

Positive: We had a very good night sleep after a long flight to Boston. Everything was exceptionally clean and comfortable. For me, the downtown Portsmouth lodgings are a little pricey. The Inn at Rye Place is an excellent alternative just a little ways out of town.
