Just 270 steps to the beach, makes it easy to take a cup of coffee to watch the early morning sunrise! This part of the beach is also a well-known dolphin watching spot nearly year-round! Sit under a beach umbrella and watch the dolphins frolic or to watch the dolphin-watchers on the dolphin watching boats! Later you can catch the fireworks from the Oceanfront!
In the cooler months, enjoy the electric fireplace insert for cozy warmth.
The Barefeet Retreat North offers 3 bedrooms (2 queens, 1 double) with NEW Beds and New Linens along with 1.5 bathrooms indoors, along with a private outdoor shower with hot & cold water with changing area in the private fenced backyard. Fully stocked eat in kitchen with all NEW Kitchen Cabinets, NEW Countertops and NEW Stainless Steel Appliances. The deck and back yard is a peaceful and comfortable place to relax and has outdoor seating and a gas grill for your use. Also provided - boogie board and skim board, beach table, chairs and umbrella.
Convenient to Edgar Cayce's ARE (just a few blocks away), Naval Bases and just 12 blocks from Ft Story (and the Cape Story Lighthouse). This location offers a quiet and quaint atmosphere, with the National Anthem playing at 8 am every day from Ft Story! Within a short drive you will find Restaurants galore, Virginia Marine Science Museum, ropes course, Putt-Putt Golf, movie theater, shopping, library, Rec Center, zoo, botanical garden, fishing, water park, go-carts, boardwalk, and the list goes on!! Like to hike or run? First Landing State Park trails are just a minute's away!

Summary: We were very pleased with house an location. Would definitely recommend to friends an family. Although the weather didnt work in our favor we still made the best of it!!

Summary: I love the backyard patio and the living room space. The bathtub drain does tend not drain as fast, this was the only thing I would I recommend that needs to be looked at. Overall, the host responded to needs and loved our stay !

Summary: This is the second year in a row that I have stayed at this property. The things that brought me back were the close beach access (an 8 min walk from front door to toes in the ocean) and location (the less crowded North Beach area). Good for families with pets in tow.

Summary: The unit is very cutely decorated and has just about everything you want! Plenty of towels and beach chairs. The beach is a few minutes walking distance and is very quiet and little crowd during Labor Day weekend which was exactly what we needed! My only negative comment was that the patio furniture was all dirty so we couldn’t sit outside comfortably. We originally had booked six people ..four adults two teens but last minute had two back out. Luckily it worked out because the living room and bedrooms only fit four comfortably.

Summary: This was our first trip to Virginia Beach, but I don't think it will be our last - the beach and the town were great. The house is situated in the North End, in a very residential area, about 3 minute walk from the beach. It was great for relaxing and tanning, which is exactly what we wanted; everything else (restaurants, shopping, boardwalk) was an easy 10-15 minute drive. The house was immaculately clean, and compact but efficient and well-designed. (There are hooks everywhere, to make it easy to put things "away" without risk of forgetting them!) My only request would be for some of the "softer" elements - like 5 packets of coffee rather than 3 for a 5-day stay, being allowed to take beach towels to the beach, and tissues in the bathrooms. Overall a great house, great location, great vacation!

Summary: Our stay at Barefeet Retreat North was PERFECT! Lisa is a fantastic host. She is responsive, attentive, welcoming, friendly, and cooperative. The property is so wonderful! It is clean and updated, cozy and you feel at home. I think it is the perfect size. A nice spacious living room; bedrooms are no bigger than they need to be and feel comfortable. Kitchen is a nice size and well-equipped. The primary bedroom has a little half bath which is nice if the house is full, just to have an extra bathroom. There has been a lot of attention to detail put in to the space. The deck is fenced in - great for dogs! Beds are comfy and there are TVs in the bedrooms (all of them) and the living room which is nice for lazy vacation time :) Linens and towels were nice and clean; AC kept us cool. Lisa also provides lots of beach goodies for you to use. There is a beach cart with nice big wheels that you can use to easily transport your stuff from the house to the beach. There are boogie boards, beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and other beach stuff you can use. We loaded up the cart and it was easy to get to the beach with all of our stuff. There is an outdoor shower and hoses on the deck so you can get all the sand off you before going back into the house. Finally: location. The house is a truly ideal location. It is a short 4 minute walk to the beach. The house is on the north end of VA beach so that part of the beach is away from all of the huge hotels and boardwalk. Way more chill! The beach is gorgeous. In season, dogs are allowed on the beach before 10AM and after 6PM. We took our dogs to the beach every morning and it was so lovely. We saw dolphins everyday all throughout the day. Make sure you take the boogie boards with you do ride the waves. There are fantastic restaurants within a few miles drive. I can't recommend this spot enough!
